Imagine Spring Cowl - Knitting Pattern
The Imagine Spring Cowl is an intricate knit accessory design that showcases a unique cabled stitch pattern on both the front and back, using twisted stitches to create a cable effect without the need for a cable needle. Ribbing on the sides complements this beautiful design, with a subtle variation of the stitch pattern featuring as a centerpiece on the cowl's front. The cowl is worked in one piece, starting at the front hem with an Italian tubular cast-on and twisted ribbing. The design is then continued in the engaging, beautiful cabled stitch pattern, with ribbing continuing on the sides of the cowl.
Subsequently, front neck stitches are put on hold while each shoulder is shaped by working back and forth to achieve an optimal fit. After the shoulders are completed, they are joined by casting on back stitches and working the back down, ending with twisted ribbing and a neat tubular bind-off. Finally, the neck stitches are picked up, and the neck is completed with twisted ribbing.
While this knitting pattern may appear complex at first, it is actually an easy knit, suitable for knitters of various skill levels, from adventurous beginners to experienced knitters.
The Imagine Spring Cowl's name is inspired by the 'Fawn Katmoget' Shetland sheep, named Imagine, whose fleece is blended with Romney lambswool in the yarn used from the Shetland x Romney collection. This cowl was designed in anticipation of spring, and its elegant twisted stitch pattern, reminiscent of fresh growth of leaves, provided the perfect inspiration for the name.
