Bjørk Raglan Sweater - Knitting Pattern
BJØRK (from Norwegian: ‘birch’, Swedish / Icelandic: ‘Björk’ ) is a raglan sweater knitted from the top down in the round. It features a striped pattern consisting of knit and slip stitches. First the neck is cast on using a provisional cast-on and folded-over, then the neck is shaped with German short rows while working raglan increases at the same time. Raglan increases are first worked in main colour and later in pattern. Afterwards, the sleeves and the body are separated and worked in pattern. The simple 1x1 rib on the cuffs and hem are finished with a tubular bind-off. I’ve named this pattern BJØRK because the pattern reminds me of the beautiful bark of a birch tree.
For an oversized fit, choose a size 15-25 cm larger than your actual chest circumference, for a relaxed fit - 10-15 cm larger. For reference: the sample in the photo is in size 3 with 25 cm positive ease.
