The ARCTIC SUN SOCKS are a knitted accessory featuring a traditional two-colour stranded-colourwork pattern. The socks are knit from the top down, starting with a 1x1 ribbing on the cuff, then worked in stranded colourwork as guided. After the colourwork, the socks are knit in stockinette stitch, leading to the knitting and shaping of the heel with short rows for an impeccable fit. Following heel formation, the gusset is shaped, then the remainder of the foot is knit, with toe decreases applied to ensure a comfortable wear. A standout attribute of these socks is the reinforced slip-stitch heel, significantly enhancing their durability for long-term use.

SIZING

The socks are designed for a snug fit with a recommended negative ease of 3-5 cm.

The knitting pattern is in one size with finished measurements as follows:

  • Cuff circumference (lightly stretched): 19 cm
  • Leg circumference (ankle area): 20 cm
  • Foot circumference (around the ball of the foot): 24 cm

For a perfect fit, you can personalize your socks by adjusting the needle size or yarn weight.

Suitable yarn substitutes include any fingering + lace or sport weight yarn that matches the gauge.

GAUGE

The gauge for this knitting pattern is 10 cm = 24 sts and 28 rnds on needle size 2.5 mm in stockinette stitch in the round (after blocking).
